On January 25th, Castroville Elementary students in 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade had their Bluebonnet voting and celebration party.  Students that read 5 or more of the Bluebonnet books were allowed to attend the celebration and vote for their favorite Bluebonnet Book.  There were a total of 205 students that reached the goal of being allowed to vote. The top book winner for Castroville Elementary was “Roller Girl” by Victoria Jamieson followed by “Nightmares!” by Jason Segel and Kirsten Miller and in third place was a tie for third place “Crenshaw” by Katherine Applegate and “The Chicken Squad” by Doreen Cronin.

Students received special blueberry food treats, a certificate, and a special spirit stick.  Special awards were handed out for students that have attended the party multiple years.  26 students read all 20 of the Bluebonnet books this year and were rewarded with a bag of goodies including books, a trophy with their name on it, their picture on a plaque that will be placed in the Library, and will receive a special lunch.  The students that read all 20 Bluebonnet books this year were 5thgraders Charli Marshall, Ajadiana Sibley, Vivian Soto, Alexis Tedford, Joseph Estrada, Madison Speed, Ethan McCulloch, Steven Cantu, Kahla Simpton, Aiden Fish, Jadon Krieger, Ryan Lally, Haiden Wiley, Victoria Vause, Hunter Burris, Ty Millis, Manuel Ramirez, Diego Gonzalez, Dylan Lee, Garrett Davis, Brooklyn Moreno, Anasofia Chavarria, 3rd graders Easton Center, Jolie Berger, Johnny Guzman and Kyle Livingston.  We had 33 students that received certificates and medals for qualifying to vote 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade school years.
